Robin of Lockslay Book 1
Robin of Lockslay, The Time of Elvens Ch 12

With the two llamas in tow, they were named nina and Mina, Mina being the mother and Nina being the daughter. They started their way through the rain. sister Margarette laughed when the man said there was a blizzard coming to this side of the mountain. “how could you know?” she said. the Little man made a face at her. “those clouds tell me!” he said pointing out to the storm clouds just coming in. But its spring!” “ya well maybe this storm is late!” he yelled at her as she climbed onto Mina. she yelled back” thank you!” and kicked. the road was muddy and thick with rain and she hoped they wouldn’t be able to spot their hove prints in the mud. But then again they would be the only hove prints on the Elven pass and if they were looking they would be able to find them easily. She held Little Margarette and hoped that this journey would take them 2 weeks because it would be dangerous for them. The first night was easy and Sister Margarette was happy that it only rained in the day time. The night was calm and silent except for the noises the animals made. They slept during the day in the rain and Sister Margarette was always able to find a cave with a solid dry floor to sit in while she fed the little princess. Mina and Nina both ate grasses as they walked up the long trail. But the food Sister Margarette had wouldn’t be enough for 2 weeks and she prayed that the Elders would give her food. The little princess was so easy to take care of, hardly any crying and Margarette remembered how hard it had been to take care of all her sisters and brothers before she went to the Abby. since she was ten she took care of her younger siblings until she went to the Abby and she had sent them food and money when she could. her eldest brother had married and he was taking care of the children now. she missed her family and she missed Sister Loise. Sometimes when she got sad the little princess would hold her fingers and coo at her and sometimes smile. She was beautiful she thought, what a prize this child was.

days passed and the dirt and mud made sister Margarette look more like a beggar woman than a nun and she had dark dirty clothes now and her hair was knotted in places and she smelled of animal fesies. the snow had made it more difficult to get there and she hoped she didn’t pass the elders Abby. The snow storm did come and it was hard to get the llamas to go through it. they seamed to be more sluggish and she had to get off them and pull them to keep them going. she wished she had a family and looked into the little princesses eyes and thought about how this could be her chance to have a family. a young woman with a child all of her own, but no this child wasn’t her child. she wanted to have the child inside her and hold the child first and coo at the baby and the baby laugh at her laugh. the little princess didn’t do that, she was too smart for that…this child was going to be something great…a queen of a country. he child would just be a great friend and lover and nothing could be better than that. the storm just got worse and she could no longer differentiate were the day started and ended. she had lost Nina in the night and Mina was nick with no food and little water. sister Margarette had little to eat and she gave it to the llama to make milk for the princess. Margarette took refuge in a cave and huddled the child trying to sing to her through the shivers. “hush little baby…dooonnnnttt yyyyoou cccrrry.” when she started to fall asleep. she tried to keep singing but she just couldn’t it was too hard. she just heard the little princess crying and then screaming in her dreams.

sister Loise stood with her in the cave and shook her. “get up!” then a second voice came and this one was more musical. “daughter of mine awake! this child must be taken to them…follow me, my child.” a bright light was coming twords her and she opened her eyes in her dream. “i cant move my legs!” “get up!” Sister Loise said again. “then the child said…come on lets go!” she popped open her eyes and Mina was huddled next to her and the princess was crying loudly this time. She got up and shook Mina up who got up unwillingly. then as she exited the cave three shadows came through the snow. she stared to walk back and they put out their hands and the first one let down his hood…”come Lima has sent us to you, come we must help you!” he smiled and two of the elders took Lima and the other lead Sister Margarette through the snow.

they walked for a while before they got to a large temple and he took them all inside. it was warm and it smelled of sweet teas and baked foods. The Mina was taken to a different part of the temple but the main monk took Sister Loise to a large room with several monks meditating. ” come sister, please sit here.” he showed her to a large pillow and she sat. another large pillow was given to her and she put the princess on to it. the little child soon cooed to sleep and Sister Margarette sighed. “thank you for welcoming us into your temple.” the monk bowed his head and sister Margarette noticed for the first time the large scar across his face, it was suttle but it went from the base of his neck to his right nostril. “my name is Adonis and these are the brotherhood of the Elders.” He said waving to the other monks placed about the room sitting on their pillows. “We have been here since the first children of the elders.” “yes, Sister Loise of the Abby taught us that as well as your beliefs in the prophecy.” “how wonderful. but you must know not many elvens have made it to this temple.” “yes, i have also been told that but i do believe that we are in good keeping’s with Omega, he told Sister Loise that the child was coming and that the child must be taken here.” the monk looked at this child and smiled, this cant be the child he spoke of, this child is a girl!” “yes, but this child is Princess Marion’s child!” “No!” he said angrily. “yes” “royal elven blood!” he spit as did all the other monks. “the prophecy does not tell of an elven ruling!” he got up and yelled, “blasphemy!” and walked out. a young monk of 13 came up to her. “please for give Adonis. He speaks too harshly to you.” “no it is fine, i too am a little skeptical that this child is suppose to be the chosen one but that is what Sister Loise has told me and i trust her with my life!” he smiled, “would you like some honey tea and some of our bread?” “oh yes please!” she said smiling. “good and the our only woman monk will bring you some new clothes to keep warm in.” she smiled. a moment later a woman came to her. she was not beautiful that was for sure, but she was at the same time. the right side of her face was pristine and the other side was burned so badly that it was black and pieces of her flesh were protruding out from were they should be. she had no hair and her head was completely burned as well but her eyes were beautiful and crystal blue like Marion’s. She had burned hands and burned feet and she was dressed in monks clothing but she had made it fit her. “hello.” she said coming up to Sister Margarette first. Sister Margarette smiled, “what is your name?” Margarette asked. “my monk name is Kent but my real name is Kelli. Im elven just like you but Ive just been burned and left for dead.” “im sorry,” “oh im not- i love it here, my family wasn’t the best for me and this family is better.” sister Margarette smiled. “and look at this baby! oh i wish i could have one of my own!” “maybe someday you will…” sister Margarette said. “oh no i never will, the Omega told me i was given a better gift…i was to look after you and this child while you are here.” “that is a wonderful gift.” Kelli smiled again but this time it was sad, Margarette smiled back at her and held her hand would you like to hold the princess?” Kelli smiled again and this time it was much happier. Margarette gently lifted up the princess and put her into Kellis arms and the little princess looked up at Kelli’s face and smiled. “oh- my gosh! i cant believe shes smiling at me!” “its because she knows that you are a good person and she likes you!” Kelli rocked the little princess back and forth and suddenly said, “oh robin you are so beautiful i cant wait till you come back to see us!” “what did you say?” Sister Margarette said worried. “oh im sorry, i should tell you. you see Omega told me in my dream a long time ago that a baby would come to me this baby would have red hair and green eyes and be named Robin. She comes with the burden of the prophecy before she can even speak, this child is Robin, the one in my dream. Yes but you cant just name her!” “I’m not naming her, that’s what she is to be called when she is given to him…her father.” sister Margarette looked worried at Kelli and said, “I’m sorry Kelli but can i take her back i need to feed her.” “im sorry, i don’t mean to scare you.” “its OK, I’m just having a hard time understanding all of this, let me just go feed her.” “OK” Kelli handed the child back to sister Margarette and she walked to were they took the llama. she fed the child who now looked cross at her. “don’t look at me like that Princess…” she said to the child. the princess rolled her eyes and then kept up her feeding. sister Margarette bit her lip and looked at the child and said, “Robin.” the child looked at her and smiled. a little llama milk coming off her lips. “oh my god!” robin went back to feeding and sister Margarette started to panic.

sister Margette came back into the room with the child she now called robin and apologized to Kelli for being so hard on her. “oh- its OK Ive been told im too blunt about some stuff.” the teas were brought in and breads and everyone talked about what was to come of the child. Sister Margarette learned that the young monk was called “Octavius and he was the first blood child of the elders. “that must be hard to fill those shoes.” sister Margarette said sipping at her 3rd cup of tea. “yes, but i have been studying since i was 2 and i think im going to be ready for what ever life throes at me.” “well ill pray for you, just in case.” she said laughing.

Margarette and Robin stayed there for two days to get back their strength and the monks gave them a second llama, to which they called Morasses.” the sun was rising and Margarette readied Robin for the journey. Octavius brought out the llamas and smiled when he saw Margarette and the child.  Margarette smiled and said. “thank you, everyone for everything you have done for us!” Then Adonis came out of the large hallway…”Sister Wait!” he said holding up his hand. held something in his hand and as he came up to them he bared it. Octavius yelled, “NO!” then Adonis laughed…”this is for Robin…this is the dagger of truth, and it has the symbol of the elders on it.” any human or elven knows this symbol and this dagger is one of a kind…only given to the eldest Monk of the elders…she will come back to us one day and when she does she can show us this and it will be known she is free to pass with out any harm to her.” Margarette smiled and took the dagger, thank you Adonis.” she said bowing her head to him. he smiled and waved her off as she rode the llamas down the path to the human realm…the lonely rode to freedom for her and Robin but it was still a dangerous path.
