Robin of Lockslay Book 1
Robin of Lockslay, The Time of Elvens ch 6

Marion couldn’t believe Gila was going to be beheaded for her. She asked for a meal to be made of Gila’s favorite food, plum pudding and duck and she wanted Gila to have a piece of jewelry from her. She wrapped the jewelry in a beautiful green handkerchief that she had been given when she was just a little girl and a bracelet that Marion’s grandmother had given her. She wanted everything to be OK. Then she went down to Gila’s dungeon room with Liza and brought everything on a silver tray just as Gila had always talked about. Marion dressed not as a princess but as a servant and brought Gila one of her own beautiful green dresses that gila loved and Marion own tiara that the queen had given her when she was just a child.

They came to the door and there were two guards standing in front of it. I wish to speak to her…she said. they both bowed and said, “yes Princess.” one of them unlocked the door while the other opened it. she went in and she could see the two guards watching as they dressed Gila in her dress and put Gila’s new tiara on. they ate and Marion made polite conversation while Gila tried to smile. they didn’t say anything about the beheading until Liza started to cry. “it will never be the same with out you Gila.” “oh please- you’ll soon forget about me and there wont be anything more to say about the matter. ive done this for myself and that is all. besides i don’t have anyone besides the princess to take care of and i know you will have a husband someday Liza. Don’t worry, this is just the beginning of my adventure.” Gila had tears fall down her face as she looked at Marion. “you my princess have done well for yourself and you will some day rule a people greater than these. i know you will and when you do you’ll never be seen as King Dartan’s Daughter but as Marion, princess to the elven  empire.” Marion smiled and said,”i am always endeted to you Gila.” “no- you are true in heart and you have only asked for one thing in your whole life, to be in love…what a true woman you are and you have become i only wish that you would have queen before i had left but i will see it from the clouds i guess.” “im sorry Gila but i don’t think ill ever be queen, i must marry a noble and my mother permits none to marry me.” “let me tell you both a secret, your mother is no queen. she beds every man that may marry you and gives them promises of being king one day but never does!” “Gila!” Liza said. “how can u be sure?” i have seen many men enter that room but none stay for very long. and Your uncle is one of them!” “no!” Marion said shocked. “yes, now hold that to your grave!” both the girls crossed their hearts as they nodded their heads. Gila touched their faces kindly. “Liza protect our Princess, she is our last hope to save our world and Marion keep your heart true…one day you’ll see your love again i know it.” Marion started to cry and married her head into Gila’s hand. “thank you Gila for being such a wonderful mother to me, i am truly grateful!” all three of them hugged and soon they had to leave, Marion took the tray and the crown back but left Gila with the dress and she could hear sobs coming from Gila’s room when they left.

The morning sun rose and trumpets sounded as the beheading was about to begin. Marion was rushed into her room by four guards. “what is the meaning of this?” Marion spat angrily. “oh you didn’t know?” said Prince john. “why im here to take you away, for your father is disgusted with the way you have behaved and wants you out of his castle!” “no!” “oh yes my dear and i am happy to oblige him!” he laughed “Liza she may take the clothes on her back and 1 trunk full and that is all! “you have 10 min, do you understand?” “yes sire.” she said submitting to him. “quick take the gold! Marion spoke, hide it in my jewelry box, but leave most of the jewelry!” “yes princess.” Marion then rushed into the bathroom and grabbed her brushes, her mirrors, and only two of her dresses, then she brought her human books and stuck all of them into her trunks. she also put her necklace around her ankle so he couldn’t see it. she packed very little and packed a dagger for herself just in case.

The guards came back in and she was ushered out. They took her to a plain 2 horse carriage and she saw the sun rising higher into the sky. she also heard cheering as the beheading began and saw the crowds of elven people standing about cheering as gold and meat were throne at them. she cried for Gila who was now there and for her lover Sir Richard who was also there but she couldn’t see them. The trunk was mounted to the back of the carriage and they pushed Marion in. liza tried to come in too but prince John pulled her back. “oh- did i forget to mention? Liza will not be going with you, she is mine now and i will do what i wish with her!” “you son of a bitch!” Liza spit at him…”no please Prince john, ill do anything…” “sorry princess-Kings orders.” and he smiled at her. “im sorry Liza!” the guards on the carriage whipped the rains and was throne from side to side in the carriage. “no! Liza! she screamed holding out her hands to her “be safe!” Liza screamed. The prince pushed Liza inside and Marion prayed to the elders. “please kings, Liza has not done anything dishonorable…please protect her and love her as your child she is young please do not teach her how to hate!” the carriage went on for days and it was only stopped for Marion to rest once in a while. the guards only talked to her to let her out of the carriage but never about the weather or what will happen to her, or even were she was going.
